Current Projects

Many projects are part of the Blue Belt Initiative.

Current projects :

METEOROLOGY AND OCEANOGRAPHY BUOY PROJECT OF INRH

Weather-ocean buoy (METOCEAN), whose installation benefited from the technical support of the Spanish Oceanographic Institute (IEO) and the Oceanographic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN). Its installation took place in Dakhla (23 ° 91711 N-16 ° 18703W) in October 2016.

The objective is to consolidate the "Early Warning System" off the West African coast in a context of climate change impacting marine ecosystems and fisheries resources representing a major challenge for adaptation.

FEED ALGAE MOROCCO PROJECT

The feed algae morocco project consists in the setting up of a project of cultivation of microalgae in raceway on an area of 8 000 ha. With an estimated annual production of 150,000 tons of dry algae per year, this project will absorb 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide and produce 150,000 tons of oxygen per year. This will contribute to the mitigation of climate change (deacidifying 9 billion tons of seawater / year). Also, the use of microalgae produced in fish farming will save 450,000 tonnes of pelagic fish each year.

ATSEA PROJECT

Consists in conducting a pilot project on the phyto-technical feasibility of the cultivation of macroalgae (Gracilaria and Laminar) in offshore using a new 2D technique: Floating system composed of tubes and sheets. This experimental project is carried out in collaboration between INRH, ANDA, SETEXAM and AT SEA Technologies.
